Wood Sculpture

The works that fall in the category of Wood Sculpture represent Micha Nussinov’s most natural sculptures. For Micha, wood sculpture, in particular, is about extraction: to find out what’s underneath. Taking a chisel to the timber, sculpting and carving with wood represents an earthy interplay between artist and nature.

Micha is careful to preserve any unique characteristics of the timber, often working around unusual knots or patterns in the grain, whether it is wood taken from the garden or timber repurposed from a tree in a park that has been condemned because of a damaged root system.
